Don’t miss out on joining all our Action ’21 festival-goers at our official opening at 12.00 (BST) on Saturday 8th May. Our virtual festival will then last for 6 weeks and you can join us again at our special live event celebration at 12.00 (BST) on Saturday 19th June.
You can join our Facebook group once you are registered, where you will get regular updates about the event. It’s a safe space to share with us and other Action ’21 participants – a place to make new friends, a chance to tell us how you are getting on with your activity challenges and give us any feedback.
There’s something for everyone at Action ’21 – whether you are taking part virtually from your home, with a Unit or as part of a larger BGO event, we want you all to have fun and celebrate being part of British Girlguiding Overseas!
Taking place from May 8th to June 19th
Take part in a series of live workshops, activities and challenges, Activities can be done individually or as part of a unit.
There are lots of activities that you can do over the course of our event, you can do them in any order. The facebook group will highlight different activities each day. We'd love it if you would share your photos or videos as you go. Let's start the fun!
We all need to eat! You can protect our environment by eating foods that are better for the world around us. Everyone can do something to help! Why not make a start by growing your own herb garden?
Your mission is to land your ‘eggsplorer’ safely on Mars. Can you design and build your craft so that your egg has a soft landing and doesn’t get scrambled! Don’t forget to give your craft a special name and of course try to decorate it to give it that original Mars look!
Do you know how many countries there are in BGO? How much do you know about the other countries in our BGO world?
Nature is all around us, wherever we live, even in big cities. Being outside makes us feel good and helps us to be relaxed and stay healthy in body and mind. So why not have a go at making something for your own garden/balcony/communal area?
Did you know that the oldest land animal in the world is reported to be a giant tortoise called Jonathan? He was hatched in 1832 and lives on the island of St Helena, part of BGO. How amazing! Get creative with Freya’s help and make your own model of Jonathan.
If you want to see the real Jonathan the tortoise head to the St Helena challenge badge on BGO Extra page and watch the video about St Helena by adventurer Sally Kettle here
Have a go at creating the World Badge trefoil or promise trefoil out of natural materials. You could use leaves, twigs, sand, flowers or anything from the natural world!
When you get back from your walk or your scavenger hunt, what could be better than some easy homemade ice cream in a bag? A great fun activity whether you are at home with your family or working in groups in your Unit.
Friendship bracelets are pretty bracelets which are given from one person to another, symbolising good friendships. Why not have a go at making several bracelets to give to your friends – remember to make one for yourself too!
There are some amazing bridges around our BGO world. So, get constructing and build the longest, strongest or highest bridge that you can using some basic materials. Will your bridge be able to balance your promise badge, or a coin, or even our event mascot? We can’t wait to see how you did?
As part of the event we will have a range of awesome workshops. You will need to firstly register for the event here and then you will be sent an email containing a link and Password to register for these sessions.
